PBS' American Health Journal is the longest continuously airing health program on television. Seen each week by over 117,000,000 PBS viewers, the series spotlights innovation, disruption and transformation in medicine. We also produce a second series entitled "Innovations in Medicine" as well as a series of hour length PBS health documentaries. Prior to PBS, AHJ aired on CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox via a national affiliate network.

Mike developed a 2nd mktg. career as Exec. VP/CD for the 2nd largest medical/ethical pharma ad agency, KPR, helping to introduce Baxter Lab’s OR Div.He has served, with Surgeon Gen. Koop, as Managing Ed. for a key home health magazine read by over 40,000 health professionals, has authored dialysis protocol co-developed by Amgen and HCFA , and has served as President for the agency of record for Blistex, StriDex, Delta Dental, ehealthinsurance .com, State Workman’s Comp Fund of CA. and McKessonHBOC.Mike helped to create a software offering called “VisMed™.” It enhanced the relationship between doctor, hospital and patient. It became the “system of choice” in over 50 premier hospital and healthcare concerns and is publicly-held. Out of college, Mike was accepted as one of two copy trainees at Leo Burnett Company, the brain trust of such familiar ad campaigns as the Marlboro Man, the Jolly Green Giant, Snap Crackle and Tony the Tiger. Here Mike was schooled in the Burnett philosophy called “inherent drama” ; all products either have a drama or can have one created around them. Mike went on to other world-class agencies and new marketing philosophies. At Young and Rubicam, he learned to adhere to the Ten Point Marketing Workplan.He has continually used this training in senior positions with McCann Erickson, J. Walter Thompson and CBS-TV, where he headed network on-air promotion. Mike has also guided the marketing for Polaroid, Breck, and Lifesaver in Sydney, Australia and Ford in Tokyo, Japan. His work for Levi Strauss earned him creative recognition from the American Assn. of Ad Agencies as “Best in the West” and his work has been profiled in ADWEEK magazine and Advertising Age.
