As the General Counsel of the company, I am responsible for all legal maters including compliance, contracts, human resources, and international law issues to support our operations in the United States, the Middle East (e.g. Iraq, Kuwait, U.A.E.), Southern Asia (Afghanistan) and Africa. My usual day can include providing advice and guidance on everything from contracting with the United States government or other commercial entities to addressing anti-corruption (FCPA), export controls or human rights concerns for our international business, as well as dealing with employment and labor law matters for domestic and foreign employees. Since 2010, I have led the company's involvement with other government entities, civil society representatives and other companies in the development of the International Code of Conduct for Private Security Companies and the International Code of Conduct (ICoC) Association.

As a member of Akerman’s government contracts practice in Vienna, Virginia, I represented federal contractors, subcontractors and suppliers on day-to-day aspects of doing business with the federal government, including obtaining contracts, compliance issues, contract administration, modifications, equitable adjustments, and claims. I also provided advice and counsel to contractors in negotiating subcontracts and navigating the Federal Acquisition Regulations and special agency rules.
