Evonik Degussa purchased the site from Eli Lilly and Company in January 2010. Formerly with Lilly peforming the same duties at the same site. Department Head and Manager of 45 scientists and technicians in cGMP analytical support of bulk pharmaceutical manufacturing. This includes routine manufacturing support of existing products, development and transfer of methods for new commercial and development products according to ICH guidelines, and investigations of process upsets and deviations. It also includes responsibilitiy for an operating budget, planning for capital investments, management of capacity and resources, and insuring the laboratory maintains technical capabilities in a rapidly changing environement. Responsibility for nine additional chemists and technicians in an environmental laboratory performing EPA regulated analyses for air, water and land application permit reporting.

Job description and activities are the same as for Evonik Degussa following site purchase in 2010.

Oversee activities and maintain direction for contract research analytical staff of ten scientists, including reorganization of group to enhance effectiveness, interaction with customers, provide leadership, direction and counseling to staff and carry out independent research projects to address customer needs. This involves monitoring and maintaining profitability, evaluation of opportunities, procurement of instrumentation, and identification of new market opportunities. It also involved research investigations and maintaining technical aptitude in areas of pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmaceutical PAT under cGMP guidelines.

Provided leadership, direction, counseling, and performance appraisals to eight Marketing Product Managers, each of whom had responsibility for the primary Thermo Nicolet products. Involved in setting direction and priorities for product development, advertising, and support programs as well as developing and maintaining budgets and hiring. Served as the primary negotiator in numerous development projects with third party companies and dealt with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) to set and maintain agreements. Also provided business and technical guidance while leading the development of a major new Raman product. Generated a business plan, economic assessments, market analyses, product positioning, product specifications, product introductions, product pricing and developed advertising and sales support materials. After product launch, served as the technical specialist for international customer demonstrations and training, while overseeing the market activity, positioning, and general business management of the product line.
