NASA OSIRIS-REx Asteroid Sample Return Mission • Member of the 5 person team responsible for development and operations (DevOps) of the science-data processing, storage and retrieval software for the OSIRIS-REx asteroid sample return mission. • Developed the microservices for handling instrument data from space protocol packets, through image assembly and post processing, to database storage and end-user product creation. • Developed the Node.js back end API that supported the science, engineering and operations teams website, providing functionality for downloading and uploading products, running server jobs, status reporting, and more. • Implemented Node.js C++ Addons that interfaced with C libraries responsible for creating files in FITS and HDF5 formats. • Implemented the process monitoring watchdog software that reported software statistics to an online dashboard and notified the on-call software engineer of critical issues. Developed the online dashboard to enable stakeholders to view the progress of their data in the processing pipeline. • Integrated instrument field of view footprints into a GIS database and implemented the generation of algorithmically mapped instrument data to asteroid shape-model facets for global-scale maps. This software enabled the scientists to create map products leveraging the large amount of data stored in our repository, while maintaining data provenance. • Improved the end-to-end test suite software by benchmarking and optimizing Oracle database queries and indexes for a 10x faster testing cycle.

NASA OSIRIS-REx Mission, University of Arizona • Internship project to design and develop a full-stack Node.js data visualization tool for the spacecraft’s science instrument engineering data. • The tool was capable of handling the hundreds of millions of data points expected over the 5 year long mission. • Project was completed on time, passing all end-to-end and unit tests, and fulfilling all 32 operational requirements to be used during flight.
