Students receive explicit and direct academic instruction in content-core classes along with identified IEP services and accommodations. There are several major components to the program that support the individual student in maximizing their strengths while at the same time developing in identified areas of need. Through our GROWTH mindset activities, students learn to identify and develop positive characteristics citizenship, empathy, responsibility, and accountability. We also provide activities based on social-emotional learning which highlights positive and proactive coping skills development and acquisition. These skills are practiced during whole group instruction and supported by a licensed therapist during individual counseling sessions. Students are also guided through lessons and activities that support the understanding of human emotions. They are provided with the opportunity to engage in both whole and small-group activities. Another major component that the program offers is called Grounding and this provides self-regulation strategies and applications that support both coping and effective functioning skills.
