As a flight test engineer I am tasked with keeping excellent documentation of the test article and ensuring that it is in the correct configuration for each day's testing. Coordination with design and analysis engineering is common to ensure that results found during testing are consistent with expectations. Working with numerous teams in the investigation of any issues found during testing is common to make sure they are solved in a way that ensures the safety of the team and the test article. I also participate in the conducting of tests as part of the on board flight test team which includes preflight briefings about the configuration of the article, on board weights management, and post flight briefings regarding results and any discrepancies that were noted during testing.

In my internship as a flight test engineer my primary goal was to gain a broad understanding of how flight testing operations were conducted at Boeing. During my time i was able to participate in 30 hours of ground and flight testing combined. I learned the documentation and communication methods used across the flight test organization and how to implement them myself. By the end of my internship i had authored multiple authorizing documents, presented at multiple test breifings, and gained knowledge proficiency regarding the flight test operations role.

In this role I helped develop a project management web tool to aid in outsourcing optimization, worked on a CAD project of a test setup and gave the Preliminary design review for it, and also compiled valuable lessons learned for the team.
