Overview: Manage over 30 active litigation and transactional matters at a time, primarily commercial landlord-tenant.Litigation: Regularly handle matters in the field of commercial/business litigation, commercial and residential landlord/tenant litigation, and appellate litigation. Draft litigation documents, including pleadings, petitions, motions and notices of pendency. Prepare discovery demands and responses. Regularly confer with and brief supervising attorneys regarding litigation matters. Attend court conferences and appearances, including orally arguing motions.Transactional: Draft, prepare, analyze and/or abstract complex contracts, operating agreements, commercial and residential lease agreements, proprietary leases and by-laws. Prepare various notices pursuant to commercial and residential lease agreements. Advise commercial and residential owners on purchases and sales, including 1031 exchanges.Other: Conduct comprehensive legal research in areas such as real estate, contract, civil procedure, and commercial law. E-file litigation documents and manage the practice calendar by monitoring court dockets. Regularly confer with clients, clerks of the court, and adversaries.

Advised clients on transactional matters. Projects included cooperative corporation formation and contract negotiation for pet-care startup and technology startup. Analyzed, researched and advised clients on Landlord/Tenant issues, including formation of Tenants’ Associations and drafting of various correspondence. Negotiated $150,000 contract for capital improvements between landlord, developer and Section 8 Housing Tenants’ Association. Other projects included market research assignment on small mixed-use buildings throughout Brooklyn.

Assisted partners in research/analysis of construction, real estate, and personal injury law matters. Drafted legal memoranda, pleadings, and motions. Attended client meetings, conferences, depositions and mediations.

Aided the in-house counsel of a large developer in commercial property purchasing and leasing. Prepared and negotiated brokerage, confidentiality, and construction agreements. Reviewed and abstracted commercial leases.

Performed case law research and analysis on Not-for-Profit entities with respect to real estate matters for inclusion in CLE presentation materials.

At an immigration law firm, responsibilities included assessing and understanding the client's specific needs and requests, and completing the necessary forms regarding their immigration status.

Aided department staff in planning and executing trade missions to Nigeria, Morocco, Afghanistan, and India with goal of boosting U.S. export trades. Researched U.S. corporations interested in participating in trade missions by inquiring for possible legal trouble in their past.
