Sergeant

Njsp Meadowlands Station

. I have been assigned to the Meadowlands Station as a Squad leader for approximately three years. During this time, I have directly participated in the most high profile events ever to be hosted by the State of New Jersey (i.e. Super Bowl XLVIII, Agudath, and Wrestle Mania). These events, along with the numerous other venues for which the Meadowlands Station is responsible, have enabled me to become an effective leader and supervisor, not only of the members under my command, but of the hundreds of troopers and civilians that I encounter throughout my assignment. I have acquired the planning and scheduling experience by assuming the role of overtime scheduling officer for all events. This unique assignment has given me the opportunity to participate in the training, preparation and planning of a road station that encompasses the constant vigilant security of critical infrastructure that is within our station’s area of responsibility.

I act in the capacity of the Branch Director for all venues at the Metlife Stadium. This position is responsible for overseeing the safety and security of all V.I.P.’s, diplomats, professional athletes, politicians, outside police agencies and professional sports organization escorts to and from the stadium. I am also responsible for the safe movement of the professional athletes to a secure location in the event of an evacuation. During this time, the Meadowlands Complex was involved in a tremendous transformation, specifically with the opening of MetLife Stadium and the demolition of the old stadium. The unique situation of this transitional phase required the safety and security of the critical infrastructure located in the station area. Along with the Homeland Security features of the station, I was also required to perform the duties of a general road Trooper. I actively participated in criminal investigations, DWI enforcement and general policing action.

- I was assigned as the senior trooper of Squad #4. I assisted with all administrative duties as well as acted in the capacity of a supervisor in the absence of the Squad Sergeant. During this time, I investigated 54 motor vehicle accidents, 94 operation reports, 29 DWI arrests, 58 investigation reports that resulted with the arrest of 108 suspects. One specific arrest yielded over 400 decks of heroin, which led to a joint investigation with the NJSP gang unit. The subsequent investigation resulted in another seizure of 400 decks of heroin and information that led to the arrest of a State Employee who was providing confidential information to gang members. I was an active D.R.E. assisting with numerous DWI and drug arrests. I was assigned a probationary trooper who I trained, supervised and evaluated during his Trooper Coach program.
