Over thirty years’ experience in local government has involved extensive strategy and policy development, management and operational experience in social policy, social work and health services. After 11 years in community development in Glasgow in the 1980s and 1990s, I held a variety of posts in community care, particularly leading commissioning and driving large scale change. I played a lead role in the transformation of services for people with learning disabilities in Glasgow, latterly heading the integrated Glasgow Learning Disability Partnership as Joint General Manager. I accepted early retirement in 2010 and began work with COSLA in 2011 where I have played a lead role in Scottish local government responses to welfare reform and the impacts on housing delivery. I have also developed work on employability and responses to poverty. I was also an associate consultant with ADSW Partners for Change.I have retired from COSLA since July 2019 and am no longer actively seeking work.
