Tenured Faculty Member in the English Dept., Humanities Division.I teach a variety of English and Creative Writing courses, including English 1A, the college's flagship composition course, as well as English 1AS, the co-requisite support class. My class engages students on socio-political issues through past and present points-of-view, with work mainly coming from marginalized communities, women, and BIPOC voices. Through class discussion and an array of written assignments, students engage with contemporary issues that matter to them, as well as build their empathetic capacity for fellow human beings. My English 1C class revolves around critical thinking skills and furthering conversations to include long-term solutions and advancement in areas of interest to each student. I also serve as chair of the Humanities Division's Equity Committee, devoted to advancing the understanding and implementation of equitable best practices concerning our student population, in our department and across the college.
