Developed a lecture and laboratory courses in General Chemistry for Diablo Valley College covering chemical stoichiometry, chemical reactions, basic atomic and quantum mechanical theory, chemical bonding, gas laws, thermochemistry, equilibrium, acid-base chemistry, structure of solids, the colligative properties of solutions, chemical kinetics, electrochemistry, transition metals, and nuclear chemistry. In the laboratory component, introduced students to basic chemical techniques and beginning data analysis.

Developed a lecture and laboratory courses in Introductory General Chemistry for Merritt College for students in Allied Health fields such as nursing. The course introduced the core concepts of chemistry including significant figures, measurement, stoichiometry, atomic structure, equilibrium, and acid-base chemistry.

Developed lecture courses in Introductory Biochemistry, Metabolism, and Basic Toxicology for Life Chiropractic College West students preparing for their NBCE examinations in Chiropractic care. The courses covered the structure, function and performance relationships of biochemical compounds, energy metabolism and reaction rate kinetics, central carbohydrate biochemistry, primary nitrogen metabolism, and advanced integration of metabolism. The Basic Toxicology course covered basic concepts in toxicology and delved into the pharmacology of commonly encountered chemicals.

Developed a General Biochemistry lecture course for upper division students focused on primary carbohydrate metabolism.Adapted a lecture and lab course on the Making of Wine for non-science majors. This course introduced topics in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry as they relate to the production of wine.Served as an instructor for General Chemistry courses laboratory sections. Developed a lecture course on the Chemistry of Nucleic Acids for the Pre-Professional Health Academic Program at California State University-East Bay. This course covered the structure, function, metabolic processes associated with Nucleic acids.

Key Achievements: Directed an extensive Systems Biology project (Proteomics, Transcriptomics, Metabolomics, and Histology) to analyze the Bile Duct Ligation disease model of liver fibrosis for objective biomarkers of liver fibrosis disease progression. Delivered 2D gel and iTRAQ data analysis and interpretation for the project and initiated discussions with a Key Opinion Leader, Prof. Gregory Gores, Mayo Clinic, to obtain a clinical context for our observations.Delivered crucial iTRAQ proteomics analysis for a large Systems Biology effort to understand the role of glucagon signaling in maintenance of glucose homeostasis and alpha cell hyperplasia. Shaped the interpretation of the data streams from the Proteomics, Transcriptomics, and Metabolomics workflows to integrate all the data available to the team. Collaborated with Key Opinion Leader, Dr. Johanna Seddon, in Age-related Macular Degeneration to integrate a proteomic analysis of stratified AMD patient plasma with blinded genotype data from the same patients. Identified potential links of two proteins to genetic markers being studied by Dr. Seddon.Managed Pfizer's $1.5 M USD Fee-for-Service agreement with the Australian Proteome Analysis Facility. Supervised the 2D gel electrophoresis laboratory operations. Established laboratory SOP's and coordinated the development of QA/QC procedures for the laboratory. Directed the 2D gel electrophoresis laboratory initiative for a custom LIMS and data analysis system.

Key Achievements:Initiated the Ettan DALTsix project, the developed the project plan, acted as lead scientist for the execution of the project, and worked with Marketing to launch the product.Received a leadership commendation for providing solutions for technical issues that arose following the launch of the Ettan DALT II system.Directed the worldwide instrumentation training for the Ettan DALT II. Conducted internal and external technical training for 2D electrophoresis and proteomics applications in Asia, Europe, and the United StatesResearch: Lead Scientist on development of the Ettan™ DALTsix electrophoresis unit and the Ettan™ DALT II system for high-throughput, large-format 2D electrophoresis and proteomics. Authored user manuals for both Ettan DALT systems and contributed to "2-D Electrophoresis, Principles and Methods" handbook and "Fluorescent Imaging: Principles and Methods" handbook published through Amersham Biosciences (now GE Healthcare).

Chromatography Technical Support. Provided technical support for all Amersham Pharmacia chromatography media and chromatography instrumentation including SMART system, FPLC and AKTA.
