Responsible for the leadership, management, and development of the Procurement Department, accountable for planning and delivery of business plan activities and performance targets in order to deliver a flexible and high-quality service which supports the Force and OPCC strategic objectives.

Reporting directly to the Head of Consortium, I was employed to develop and manage a suite of framework agreements for the Estates teams of the five Universities in the north east and to improve the collaboration between the institutions, with a view to maximising their expenditure. Through financial analysis and working closely with the member institutions, I created a suite of highly collaborative framework agreements with a value of over £1bn that have been designed to aid the north east economy and community as a whole.

I was the commercial lead and responsible for managing all Estates procurement activities to meet strategic business objectives as well as ensuring compliance with European Regulations and University policies and procedures. I was also required to deputise for the Head of Procurement in his absence. The role involved liaising up to Director level to develop sourcing strategies, manage the tender process and the letting of major contracts for works and services, ranging from design services and term maintenance contracts, up to £50m construction schemes.

I was responsible for managing all procurement activities related to capital research equipment and the University’s £750m Campus expansion programme.

I was the deputy to the Head of the Contracts Team, with responsibility for the management and training of the junior members as well as deputising for the Head in his absence. I was the professional lead on procurement matters and contractual issues and responsible for the procurement of major engineering projects as well as more general goods and services.

I was required to negotiate with TfL’s staff and external suppliers, advise on supplier selection and tender evaluation processes and the drafting and implementing of contracts for a range of goods and services.

I was employed to provide consultancy to all areas of Standard Life and act as procurement lead with regards to purchasing and negotiating contracts for a range of goods and services.
