Senior-level DevOps Engineer, primarily focused on building, deploying and managing containerized applications (and the infrastructure on which they run) in the cloud. All of which is informed by nearly two decades of traditional systems/network engineering. Core competencies include Linux and BSD, Kubernetes, Infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD platforms, scripting (primarily Python, Bash, and PowerShell), and Networking. Extensive experience with Azure, but have worked with AWS and GCP. I also have extensive experience with on-prem systems including Windows-based enterprise networks (connected via Cisco systems, running on VMWare and bare-metal). Deeper background info: My fascination with technology began in very early childhood. My first exposure to computer systems occurred at the age of 4 via the school in which I would attend Kindergarten. The machines captivated my imagination. By the age of 7, I had assembled my first working computer system from scrap hardware using information I obtained by watching a television show called ‘The Computer Chronicles’. When my abilities were discovered at school, I became their youngest IT team member and would help school staff through their technical problems. Often, I would get called out of class to lend my assistance, and would get called before the school’s actual IT team was contacted. By the age of 13 I had discovered the world of open-source software. My first inquiry into POSIX operating systems began with FreeBSD, and I quickly discovered and fell in love with GNU/Linux. This inevitably led to my interest in programming languages. By the age of 18 I had become proficient in shell scripting, Python and C/C++. I would contribute to open-source projects wherever I could. During my teenage years, after learning the basics of networking I had become fascinated with network security and penetration testing. I quickly learned how to use tools like nmap, arpspoof, metasploit, password hash cracking tools and how to use remote code execution vulnerabilities to deliver payloads. This engrained in me the knowledge of how attacks were performed, and how to defend against them. Fast-forward to the present, I develop the infrastructure which nearly every organization depends on. I have built many enterprise systems from the ground up, both on-prem and in the cloud.
