Senior Engineering Geologist
CurrentProvide geological and geotechnical services within Sunwater, specifically within the Engineering and Water Resources department. The role provides expertise in the planning, safe execution of, evaluating and reporting on geological investigations for water infrastructure projects. The role also involves the mentoring and development of other members of the Geology and Geotechnical team.Key accountabilities associated with the role include;- Provide effective, detailed, state-of-the-art, geotechnical services for water related infrastructure which are high quality, economically viable and safe to undertake. - Applying relevant ANCOLD guidelines and addressing technical considerations when undertaking geotechnical/geological investigations for new and existing large dams and associated infrastructure. - Ongoing management of consultants, and liaising with stakeholders. - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of geotechnical engineering technology advancements, data acquisition techniques and methods of data management, to assist in the development of new systems, methods and geotechnical investigation procedures. - Ensure the Dam Safety team and other relevant stakeholders have clear access to geological information, suitably detailed and formatted. - Provide expert geological advice for design and construction of water infrastructure projects, Seniorand Executive Management and Technical Review Panels (TRPs). - Applying geological/engineering related data gathering techniques, such as; geological mapping, borehole and test pit logging, engineering survey methods, UAV survey and inspections, petrography as well as geophysical surveys.- Analyzing geological and geophysical data and preparing geological sections and reports for project sites and assets.- Formulate representative geological and geotechnical models, using adequate data, and correctly interpreting such models based on skilled analysis using appropriate graphical and mathematical techniques.
