I spent time working at the corporate office for Ocean Properties Ltd., where I rotated throughout different departments, gaining valuable new experiences. I worked with the Accounts Payable team, and assisted with the opening of the new Residence Inn in Bath, Maine. I was also part of a task force involved in taking over the management in four hotels in Islamorada, Florida, as well as the opening of the new Opal Sands in Clearwater, Florida. I assisted the Accounts Receivable team with day to day work, as well as a project involving direct billing applications for all of our 100+ properties.

Since arriving in Bar Harbor, I have become familiar with the 193-room Harborside property, the various room types and amenities offered on-property, as well as attractions and restaurants within and outside of the downtown area. I have become proficient with the OPERA PMS, while also utilizing HSI POS during my time as night auditor.My responsibilities included working at the front desk, answering in-house and external phone calls, making sure that every guest received a uniquely pleasant experience from the moment they checked-in to the point at which they had to leave. I set up and delivered specially ordered amenities for returning VIP guests, as well as guests who were celebrating their anniversary or honeymoon with us. Near the end of the peak season, I was moved to the night shift, so that I could function as the night auditor. In doing so, I not only walked guests and processed the day for our property, including the restaurant, but also compiled a corporate summary nightly, which detailed the daily totals generated by all of our properties in Bar Harbor. I also assisted with our sister property, the 85-room West Street Hotel, when they were short-staffed. As a manager in training, I was able to handle any issues that guests were having by figuring out a solution that would be beneficial to the guest, while also not majorly affecting our ADR or inventory. I supervised the front desk agents, bellmen, and any other employees who were working at or near the front desk, making sure that things ran smoothly, and information given to guests was accurate and correctly delivered.

My responsibilities were expanded to include managing the entry-level employees, scheduling their tasks, training new employees and retraining old employees on new procedures.
