About Michael Menser
I teach at Brooklyn College in Philosophy and at the City University of NY Graduate Center in Earth and Environmental Sciences and am the Associate Director for Public Engagement of the Science and Resilience Institute on Jamaica Bay and the Director of the Urban Sustainability program. I am also the co-director of the NYC Climate Justice Hub, a partnership between CUNY and the NYC Environmental Justice Alliance. My main areas of research are environmental and climate justice and participatory democracy and environmental philosophy especially in the context of public ownership and management of the electricity system amidst the energy transition. I am also part of the Campaign to Reimagine LIPA (the power authority of Long Island New York), and am doing a research project on public power and the democratization of public services.
