• Born and raised in Baltimore, MD. I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute, a MA in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School, and am a graduate of the USMC Command and Staff College (Distance Education Program).• During my early military career, I obtained leadership designations and instructor certifications in every functional specialty of the CH-46 helicopter including the highest tactical certification of Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI). These skills were used to safely and effectively conduct combat flight operations over the course of three deployments to Al Taqaddum, Iraq. I subsequently became a dedicated instructor pilot for all entry level students in the CH-46 and later performed a similar role teaching pilots to fly the VH-60 and VH-3 presidential lift aircraft at HMX-1. While at HMX-1 I was a White House helicopter aircraft commander and performed the intricacies of the White House Military Office contingency and support missions. In addition to executive transport, I coordinated the TS/SCI (SAP) programs assigned to HMX-1 with higher and adjacent units.• I also served as a branch head for security cooperation planning at MARFOREUR/AF in Stuttgart, Germany, leading a team of six highly trained Regional Affairs Officers in developing and implementing security concepts and regional plans.• As an instructor, I was responsible for conveying detailed concepts and procedures to safely and effectively employ aircraft in combat and executive support missions. I used informal and formal teaching methods in briefing, classroom, and individual settings. I also evaluated the ability of students to retain and employ their learning. As a security cooperation supervisor, I was responsible for ensuring a deep understanding of allied/partner nation political military capability and capacity. This analysis was used to subsequently form plans of action that were resourced by the command to achieve tangible results.• I gained refined interpersonal skills, specifically the talent to adjust my approach to an individual or representative group in order to connect with them in the manner most conducive to their learning style and ability.• Overall, I trained multiple generations of Marine aviators over the course of 15+ years in an instructor pilot role. These individuals often became leaders and instructors in their own right. I realized the implementation of security cooperation SMART objectives in EUCOM and invigorated the use of amphibious forces in NATO at the highest levels.
