I'm been working in ecommerce for 10+ years. Where has the time gone???I was intrigued with the internet in the 90's and spent countless hours "surfing the web" and using sites like AltaVista and MetaCrawler to find random websites and information. This was before Google was a household name. I created my first webpage using the once popular site Geocities. I knew early on that the "net" was going to be my BFF.Fast forward to 2003 when I was hired as a customer service rep who sold faucets online. I begged a fraternity brother of mine (co-founder) to hire me. After a few months, he gave in, reluctant as I was known to party hard in college. At this time, there were less than 15 employee's hired into the company. I was thrown to the wolves, as most are that work in a startup. I quickly became the top sales person and held that title for 6 months until I was offered an opportunity to build out a new website and expand our plumbing category. With all startups, the people who succeed are those that can adapt to change and are willing to do whatever it takes for the company to get ahead. I remember working 10-12 hr days, 6-7 days a week for several years and still found time to go out Thurs, Fri, Sat. I have no idea how I was able to pull that off for so long, good genes I guess. I currently oversee web analytics and onboard new technologies. I work very closely with product development (programmers), category managers, merchandisers, sales, marketing, and the analytics team. We have a strong culture of data and it's my mission to help educate, influence and lead the direction and strategy of our analytics tools.
