In 2012 I earned my PhD from Virginia Tech, focusing on the problems of generalized anomaly detection and pattern recognition, applied to Mechanical Engineering systems. My research during this time was funded by stipend and grants from the DoD and USACE. After finishing my doctorate, I pursued a job related to pattern recognition & predictive analytics, but centered in the healthcare space. Since then in my nearly ten years of relevant experience, I've worked on the problems of: patient outcomes prediction, utilization management, and generalized decision support, all within the context of Data Science analytics and modeling. I've enjoyed managing a small but growing team of talented Data Scientists for the last six years.Most recently, I've been independently investigating the advancements in AI, especially GPT and the GPT4 engine. Since I have a background of experience with model training and development, I've been very excited to see the capabilities that the new LLM's can offer. This has led me to pursue advanced prompt generation via the ChatGPT (Plus) webapp, and (in parallel) to apply for a GPT4 API key from OpenAI. I'm still waiting on API access, but I've been able to explore a number of advanced emergent behaviors just within the chat engine, such as:- Document iteration with version control- Outputting data in various file formats- Content- and context-aware scientific analysis- Model priming (and in-engine priming compression)- Strategizing and "red team" hypothesis testing- Unstructured input standardization & classificationI'm looking to find other people interested in these amazing advancements, and who want to explore how this new technology can be used for good!
