Profile bio

About Michael Morse

Whether I'm designing a new mechanical device in CAD or rehearsing for a saxophone performance, I aspire to challenge myself and push the boundaries of what is possible. I've pushed the boundaries of maximum power output from high diode lasers. As an intern at J-Tech Photonics, I researched different beam combining methods and led a team to develop a heatsink that could properly cool the diodes. I've pushed the boundaries of fuel efficient cars. I collaborated with other Shell-Eco Marathon team members to design a more efficient parking brake system to minimize vehicle weight and complexity. I've pushed the boundaries of saxophone performance. In the top Texas A&M Jazz Ensemble, we strive to create music full of unique emotion, clarity, and tasteful improvisation. As I push the boundaries of what was previously possible, I focus on developing camaraderie. No problem worth solving can be solved alone, so I consistently work towards becoming a better peer, teammate, or colleague, or leader. That being said, I am still committed to developing my individual technical skills. I am proficient in various CAD software (Fusion 360 and SolidWorks), and I have coded in Python and Java. I have an aptitude for math and physics; I enjoy applying those concepts to mechanical designs, sailboat repairs, and small projects around the house. On my path to a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical engineering, I've produced exceptional academic results; I've gained valuable engineering experience through classes, extracurricular projects, and internships; I've explored the bounds of creativity through jazz saxophone performances; I've exemplified leadership and Aggie Spirit as a leader of FEAST (Freshman Exemplifying Aggie Spirit Together).
