Michael runs the advisory firm, Michael Murphy & Ltd. For the past nine years he has held a portfolio of non-executive and advisory roles following a highly successful international career developing and running public relations, public affairs & marketing firms.His current roles focus on advising communications and marketing consultancies and agencies and other people businesses on how to be more successful, grow faster and achieve shareholder ambitions.Michael works internationally and advises global, regional and local firms. He takes equity stakes in start-ups. He also supports clients directly with advice on communications strategies, structures, crisis and issues management, and choice of external agencies.He has over four decades of experience in global communications, running his own firms and working in senior positions in both Weber Shandwick and, latterly as global CEO of Grayling. He has been responsible for selling, buying and integrating agencies and leading businesses through periods of change and integration. Michael has raised private equity for both a management buy-out and a buy-in.He has been Vice Chair and Governor of London Metropolitan University and Chair of its Finance and Resources Committee. He is also a former non-executive director of London’s Inward Investment Agency, a former member of the CBI London Council, and for seven years was a trustee of Action on Addiction. He is a member of The Superbrands Council.
