Biodiesel Viscosity Researcher
Determination of a method to accurately predict the temperature dependance of biodiesel viscosity, allowing for optimization of Biodiesel blend according to local area climate. Viscosity data of pure fatty acid methyl esters and multiple biodiesel blends were compiled to statistically determine location of a viscosity Cox point. Using this point, the coefficients for a three-parameter model relating viscosity to temperature can be determined. This model was found to accurately predict viscosity with less than 3% error for multiple biodiesel blends. Furthermore, the temperature dependence of viscosity for any FAME biodiesel blend can be modeled accurately using only a singular measurement.
Fame Unifac Researcher
Research into the cold flow properties of biodiesels and other fatty acid methyl ester mixtures. Worked to develop and modify liquid-liquid equilibrium and activity coefficient models to consider eutectics and co-crystallization of organic molecules. Modifications were driven by both well-established theory as well as statistical analysis of data. These modifications were found to significantly improve cloud point predictions in all nine measured binary systems with a high degree of eutectics.
