He has extensive experience in sustainable infrastructure, climate change risk, adaptation and resilience in the water, energy, transport, resource development and urban development sectors in Australia, United States, Canada, China, India, Brazil, New Zealand, and United Kingdom.Previously Michael was the Director of the International Secretariat for the United Nations Global Compact - Cities Programme which supported city governments and states to formulate partnerships with private sector to progress the Sustainable Development Goals.Michael was the Global Lead for Climate Change and Sustainability at AECOM where he led over 150 climate change, carbon management, climatic risk, adaptation design and economic evaluation and city and business resilience projects relating to industry, retail, ports, road, rail, local government, water, flood management, power, mining, buildings, facilities, coasts, states and cities. Michael represented the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australian in developing the Australian Standard AS5334 Climate Change Adaptation for Settlements and Infrastructure. Michael led the development of the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN ISDR) City Disaster Resilience Scorecard in collaboration with IBM. Michael was the Resilient Cities lead for the United Nations AR!SE initiative focused on risk sensitive investment. Michael has also supported the development of strategy tools for 100 Resilient Cities program pioneered by Rockefeller Foundation.

CurrentWith an amazing team and exceptional capabilities across the business I am supporting the Transport, Water, Resources and Energy sectors to better manage climate change risks and resilience. This involves both physical risk of climate change and de-carbonisation of business, projects and capital. I have been overseeing sustainability strategy into several major infrastructure projects while integrating carbon into investment decision making for whole of city developments. I am currently leading a team to develop an Infrastructure Resilience Scorecard for the United Nations office of Disaster Risk Reduction to support targeted investment in resilience.
