Athena Foundation Scottsdale is an approved 501(c)(3) non-profit research organization. We engage a volunteer "knowledge network" of those who seek detailed and fact backed analysis of the issues and opportunities facing our community. We welcome those with opposing views. We actively seek participation from those who are prepared to dive deep in to the facts, discuss them civilly with others, and then, when appropriate, change our minds or our beliefs. We take great pride in our ability to gain consensus. We take equal pride in our willingness to accept that our prior beliefs might have been unfounded. AFS collaborates, from time to time, with SCOTT 2020, a committee within the Scottsdale Coalition of Today and Tomorrow. We provide research to assist that organization in formulating its policy and positions.

Graduating from Law School in 1976 meant working for meager wages if any job, at all, could be found. I left a position as a Staff Attorney for Parsons, Behle & Latimer, the premier litigation firm in Salt Lake, to start my own law practice just after I turned 23. NGT&M rapidly gained a reputation for winning the tough cases, including a major water rights lawsuit in Clark County, NV, setting precendents for wrongful denial of insurance benefits judgments, and creative financing methods.
