Ibadan, Nigeria

After 12 months of field work in rural communities of Ola-Oluwa Local Government area of Osun State, Nigeria. I acquired skills in vitamin A status, total body stores and retinol kinetics assessment using retinol isotope dilution technique and model-based compartmental analysis on WinSAAM (Window version of the Simulation analysis and Modeling). Other skill attained are biomarkers collection and analysis for hemoglobin, iron status and acute inflammation assessment, thesis writing, grant proposal writing, scientific presentation at national and international conference that earned me FrieslandCampina Young nutritionist award. I assisted in mentoring ample number of Msc and Bsc students on study design and research implementation on food environment, IYCF, Exclusive Breastfeeding and breastfeeding related studies and complementary feeding, household food security and statistical analysis and interpretation.

This position provided me opportunity to interact with nutrition scientist around the globe (Austria, the Netherlands and United States of America). I attended and make contribution at international meetings and conferences where biomarkers of micronutrients assessment (vitamin A and Iron) were discussed as well as double burden of malnutrition. I also support use of stable isotopes to complement routine methods in assessment of total body vitamin A stores and retinol kinetics parameter in Nigeria preschool children. Also as J-1 Scholar at Pennsylvania State University, I acquired compartmental modeling and analysis skills

Osun State, Nigeria

A collaboration of University of Ibadan, Nigeria, Wageningen University and Research, the Netherlands and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) project.The SUPER-KID project aims to refine vitamin A assessment method in preschool children using retinol isotope dilution technique and compartmental modeling. As project manager, I manage Euro 30,000 grant budget for implementation of research among parents and preschool children in Ola-oluwa Local Government Area of Osun State, Nigeria. I Supervised collection of biomarkers of vitamin A and Iron assessment as well as dietary, morbidity and, household hunger and information surveys. I also provided logical solution to arising issues from implementing communities.

North West Nigeria

I planned, organized, coordinated and evaluated nutrition interventions for the community that are directed towards health promotion, malnutrition prevention and control; these included the Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), IYCF, Control of micronutrient deficiencies especially through Vitamin A and Micronutrient Powder (MNP) Supplementation, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), as well as coordination and advocacy.Through continual monitoring and provision of supportive supervision and on-job training for health workers and community volunteers for these programs, I analyzed gaps, evaluate progress, improve quality, and collaboration with the state Government, the interventions were scaled up from 2 Local Government Areas to other Local Government Areas in the state.

Osun State, Nigeria

A collaboration of University of Ibadan, Nigeria, Wageningen University and Research, the Netherlands and Harvest plus International project.CASSAVITA II project aims to determine the efficacy of yellow cassava in improving vitamin A status of Nigeria preschool children. The project is a randomized control trial (RCT) in design and employed retinol isotope dilution (RID) technique in the assessment of vitamin A status. As project manager, I manage Euro 90,000 grant budget for implementation of research among parents and preschool children in rural communities of Ola-oluwa Local Government Area of Osun State, Nigeria. I supervised procurement and logistics of food items and field laboratory consumables. I oversaw daily production and preparation of meal that meet the research standard and culturally accepted in study communities. I designed protocol that ensure successful feeding of research meal and food intake record at breakfast and lunch to participating preschoolers for 90 days. I managed collection and storage of biomarkers of vitamin A assessment as well as dietary, morbidity and household information surveys. I also provided logical solution to arising issues from implementing communities. Through continual communication and supportive supervision, I ensure uptake of yellow cassava stems by smallholder farmers using business model.

Collation of Nutrition research data (including Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), Breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding, BCC, household food security, dietary pattern, smallholder farmer socioeconomic profile food production and analysis, dietary intake and micronutrients survey), data verification and validation, entry and analyses, and report writing for individual clients. Ibadan Nigeria

Child care project aims to improve nutrition and hygiene knowledge, attitude and practice of pre-primary school teachers in public and private school setting through nutrition education using motivational behavior change communication model. As principal investigator, I designed Nutrition and WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) manual for pre-primary school teachers. Using mixed method approach and quasi-experimental design pre- and post-data on knowledge, attitude and practice of pre-primary school teachers were collected and nutrition education intervention was implemented. Eighty pre-primary school teachers were trained and empowered with nutrition and WASH knowledge and skills.

Lagos, Nigeria

I supported QA manager in chemical products and drug analysis, thus performing qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis, physical analysis and microbial analysis. I also monitored tablets, capsule and syrup line production process thus ensuring compliance to good manufacturing practice, as well as SON and NAFDAC standard.
