I'm a teacher at Brogden Middle School in Durham, North Carolina. I have over 25 years of experience working with children of all backgrounds. I taught 8th grade Social Studies and 7th grade Language Arts at Phillips Middle School in Chapel Hill for eight years and led their school's first AVID team of teachers. I left the classroom in 2004 to be the primary caregiver for my newborn children. At my children's elementary school, EK Powe, I was the PTA President, a member of the School Governance Committee, and a Remediation Tutor. As my children got older, I started my own carpentry business and also worked with children ages 8-18 as a professional coach for numerous club soccer programs in the Triangle.
