My professional background includes more than 20 years of hands-on experience in the planning, design, management and operation of major airports around the globe. My wide-ranging industry experience in the delivery of a variety of strategic airport management and advisory functions has allowed me to be heavily involved in high-profile projects including the aviation preparations for the London Olympics and as advisor to the Mayor of London on hub airport developments.Over the past 10 years I have undertaken influential roles in the strategic debates and decision-making processes on major airport expansions throughout the world, including London, Dubai and China. Additionally I have had the honour of sitting on advisory panels for several British professional institutes and non-profit organisations as they contemplate their contributions to the ongoing airport expansion debate. As Director of Airports at a major UK engineering consultancy I was delighted to have led the team that was winner of the UK Airport Operators' Association Best Consultancy Award for both 2013 and 2014.Previously at BAA, I held a number of key roles including Programme Leader responsible for developing proposals for sustainable capacity growth at Heathrow Airport leading to the Government-approved third runway scheme in 2009. I was also Head of Planning and Development at Budapest Airport and held responsibility for airport facility planning across the then seven BAA airports. My early career saw me gain extensive commercial consultancy experience through involvement in (many now built) master planning commissions at major airports around the world, including Oslo-Gardermoen T2, Durban's King Shaka Airport, Frankfurt's proposed Terminal 3 and Dublin Airport’s major redevelopment.
