Core duties and responsibilities:- Operates the centralised train control panel.- Controls, directs and monitors the safe and efficient movement of Transperth Train Operation’s (TTO) trains and other third party trains, utilising the urban rail network. - Ensures that services operate within the PTA’s Safeworking Rules and Procedures, and Working Timetables. - Complies with the requirements of the Train Management Guidelines.- Directs and monitors the movements of civil engineering and electrical/mechanical track machines, on track workers, and length runners.- Monitors train running performance and ensures that the Depot Manager/Depot Master are advised of any action required to comply with industrial awards and agreements.- Liaises directly with Drivers and Depot Masters in order to facilitate relief driver arrangements, railcar change outs, and the running of special services.- In the event of a major service disruption, initiates procedures with a view to restoring services to normal, notifies emergency services as circumstances dictates and determines the need to inform senior staff and major customers of disruptions and subsequent actions taken.- Reports to Senior Officers details of derailments, failures, accidents and delays to suburban services and liaises with the Electrical Control Officers with respect to the isolation of power supplies.- Provides relevant information to Civil Engineering, Communications, other staff and contractors as required.- Provides reports on all incidents and faults on the urban rail system and updates RAMS as necessary. - Monitors and updates the Vizirail system to ensure on time running information is entered, edited and kept up to date.- In the absence of the Suburban Operations Coordinator, ensures an appropriate response to unplanned events. - Initiates Roster Changes after hours- Constructs and issues Special Train Notices as required.
