I help citizens and businesses of Alberta and the UK that are interested in pursuing trade and business relationships, while also representing provincial interests with the European Union.• Develop and deliver effective messaging tailored to a UK audience. Collaborate with colleagues at the Canadian High Commission in London and in Alberta to execute strategic plans to lead clients to positive investment decisions. Maintain relationships with existing investors to retain and grow their investments in Alberta.• Provide market intelligence and introductions to network of industry contacts. Support the planning and delivery of incoming and outgoing trade missions. Speak at trade shows, conferences and seminars to promote Alberta trade and investment opportunities.• In close coordination with other Government of Alberta Departments, the Canadian Federal government and Canadian industry, led Alberta’s engagement and advocacy efforts in Europe. Engaged with stakeholders in Brussels and EU Member States, including the European Commission, European Parliament, Member State governments and European industry. Planned and accompanied missions of senior officials and Ministers from Alberta to Europe..• Represent Alberta on the Board of Directors of the Canada UK Chamber of Commerce. Responsible for ensuring coordination and alignment of international policy within the Department of Economic Development and Trade and across the Government of Alberta.• Coordinated the international policy approaches of the Department of Economic Development and Trade and other Government of Alberta Departments to ensure alignment with the goals and objectives of Alberta’s International Strategy. Led the International Strategy Integration Team with representatives from across Government Departments.• Coordinated the Department’s implementation of cross-Government policy initiatives, including Results Based Budgeting and Enterprise Risk Management.• Managed an internship program for the Department. Responsible for hiring young people from across Canada and managing their deployment around the Department.

Provided economic and strategic analysis of Alberta’s interests in bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations, including the WTO, NAFTA, CETA, South Korea, Colombia and Peru.• Developed innovative new analysis methodologies of economic, trade and tariff data to determine Alberta’s interests in trade negotiations.• Managed academic research on Alberta’s trade interests contracted out to the Western Centre for Economic Research at the University of Alberta. Co-authored articles and reports on Alberta’s experience with free trade agreements.• Represented Alberta in meetings with EU officials in Brussels to discuss the province’s position in advance of the commencement of CETA negotiations. Attended Federal-Provincial trade policy meetings in Ottawa and elsewhere in Canada.

During MBA in Mexico I was contracted by Alberta Economic Development to produce a report analyzing the potential of the Mexican states as markets for Alberta exports. This report was used by the Alberta Mexico Office to prioritize trade promotion efforts around Mexico.
