I am a diverse and flexible problem solver with 10+ years professional experience. In my approach, I emphasize clear communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and analytical skills. As a G.I.S. student at Eastern, I mastered essential G.I.S. skills, including data analysis, cartographic design, and database management. I have worked both alone and in groups to generate quality web and paper maps, such as SRTC's Regional Road Construction Map, hard-copy maps for the Participant Statistical Areas Program (PSAP), a regional hazard map and hazard simulator web app for Spokane County Emergency Management, and more. I continue to work as part of an E.W.U.-based G.I.S. group contributing to The Lands Council’s wildlife program. We are performing raster analysis to try and map cattle depredation risk in Washington's Colville National Forest. During my time in the Environmental Studies department at W.W.U., I honed a diverse professional skillset including quantitative and qualitative research, professional writing, performance evaluation, and project and performance management. At the same time, I mentored a diverse student body in a fast-paced learning environment. In my classes and research, I have studied many of the social and geographic factors that make the urban environment so dynamic. I published my thesis on environmentalist and nationalistic rhetoric in the late-Soviet Estonian environmental protest movement. While at Alaska Pacific University, I was blessed to study both philosophy and science in one of the most exquisite natural settings in the world, cultivating a passion for both abstract and concrete problem-solving. I also bring common-sense practicality from a diverse professional background -- including retail work as well as company and freelance tutoring in mathematics, logic, critical thinking, writing, English, and science.
