In the role of Process Engineer, I was initially focused on process management of all key WA cement operational assets, in conjunction with the role I was also responsible for overseeing and assisting in the quicklime process. From June 2020 my primary focus changed to manage all key WA quicklime assets. As part of this role, I continually looked to identify and implement cost saving opportunities, HSE improvement initiatives, product quality improvements and optimisation protocols. Responsibilities and Achievements• Various secondments into the site operations manager role.• Process management of 3 Pre-heater Tower Rotary Kilns, 4 Closed Circuit Ball Mills, Hydration Plant and Blending Plant across three sites.• Optimisation of plant to achieve improved energy efficiency or plant output dependant on the market demand requirements.• Development and implementation of a major shutdown commissioning protocol to reduce and mitigate risk to HSE and equipment resulting from equipment changes, upgrades and repairs from major maintenance periods.• Implementation and management of AMPLA Performance software across WA sites in order to better track plant KPI’s. Improvements include, updated downtime equipment lists, performance targets, specific shift by shift tracking and energy consumption monitoring.

Working as part of the Cement & Lime Technical Team I was responsible for driving long term project improvement initiatives. I was involved in a broad range of projects covering improvements to product quality, HS&E, plant performance and management of raw material feed-stocks. I was also involved in day to day plant troubleshooting and optimisation across both the milling and kiln operations as required.During my tenure as a Development Engineer I was seconded into the Process Engineer role for managing the pre-heater tower quicklime kilns.The responsibilities in this role included shutdown, production & inventory planning, management of fuel usage, ordering of raw materials, environmental compliance reporting and providing process leadership to the production shifts on a daily basis.
