Michael opened SHOP Consulting in September 2022 for government agencies needing short or long term procurement and contract management support. We are passionate about helping government deliver sustainable value to the community. Michael has unmatched insights into the sector through his various roles as Procurement Manager, General Manager, and 6 years consulting and training the sector.Michael has vast Procurement, Probity, Corporate Governance and training experience that includes a number of roles within Local Government and across State Government agencies. Michael regularly provides probity services and training. Michael is the trainer of all CIPS short courses and advanced corporate award programs in NSW. Michael’s experience includes delivering the CIPS Corporate award program to Mitsubishi Fuso in Tokyo, Japan.Michael has wide ranging experience including previously General Manager of Local Government Procurement where he was responsible for leading the strategic direction of the organisation, Company Secretary and managing a team of 30 Procurement professionals. His experience includes 4 years as Procurement Coordinator with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council where he was responsible for all purchasing, tendering & probity activity as well as Chairperson for the Mid North Coast Regional Organisation of Councils (MIDROC) Procurement Alliance. Michael has experience in the manufacturing, hospitality, retail and local government sectors. In 2014 Michael completed a Diploma of Government (Procurement & Contracting) and has presented at many government and industry forums. In January 2016 Michael was awarded as a Fellow of the The International Association for Contract & Commercial Management (IACCM). Michael has successfully completed the Probity Services Accreditation Course with the Resolution Institute (Combining LEADR & IAMA) and is a Graduate of the Company Directors Course and current member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). Michael is a Justice of the Peace in and for the State of NSW and a former Director at Moore Park Golf Club where he is responsible for Corporate and Board Governance.Michael has extensive knowledge of Local & State Government Legislation and in 2012 was the inaugural winner of the NSW Local Government Procurement Professional Award for the development of procurement processes for council.
