About Michael Rowe
I spend most of my time trying to figure out better ways to design learning environments that help students learn. My PhD produced a set of design principles for blended and technology-enhanced learning environments, which has now been extended to include AI to support student learning. I graduated as a physiotherapist from the University of the Western Cape in 2000, spent almost 10 years doing clinical work in England and Ireland and then came back to Cape Town in 2008. I've spent most of my academic career conducting research into teaching and learning practices in higher and professional education, and in particular, thinking about how the use of technology changes those practices. I now focus most of my time on AI in health professions education.
