My philosophies regarding business were largely established during my first job after graduate school. I started my career in banking with Wachovia, prior to its merger with First Union (later Wells Fargo). Wachovia expected its bankers to be knowledgeable professionals and trusted advisors. The mantra was “Soundness, Profitability and Growth” - in that order. Formal credit training involved a classroom setting that lasted several weeks. Management emphasized a client-centric approach grounded in building trust and focused on the long-term. Over the years I’ve worked in multiple segments within wholesale banking though always as a producing Relationship Manager. My experience is concentrated in secured lending and Transaction Banking, but extends to Interest Rate Risk Management, Foreign Exchange, Global Accounts and Capital Markets
