During this work, I designed and microfabricated a novel water-sensing MEMS microchip; set up manufacture of said chip into robust sensor probe for long-term field use; and invented a method for customers to consistently install the sensor into woody tissue. My team further developed a tree-to-cloud IoT system to upload and analyze sensor data for customers. We built custom cellular dataloggers, user interface and data analytics.Raised $2M in funding from government and private sources. Sold FloraPulse systems to customers across California, the United States, Chile, Australia, etc.
