About Michael Santoro

Prof. Michael A. Santoro is the Director of the Business Ethics and Human Rights Lab in the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University. Prof. Santoro’s current research focuses on number of areas--(1) Business and human rights compliance, measurement and responsible innovation; (2) the intersection of Artificial Intelligence laws and regulation with business ethics and human rights, particularly as it affects underrepresented minorities and citizens of the global south; (3) the management science behind Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; and (4) ethical and values-based leadership in community health centers and other local settings.Prof. Santoro is a founding Co-Editor of the Business and Human Rights Journal (Cambridge University Press) and founding President of the Global Business and Human Rights Scholars Association. He also serves on the editorial boards of Business Ethics Quarterly and the Journal of Human Rights. He is co-editing a special issue of the Business and Human Rights Journal on Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights.Prof. Santoro is the author of five books: A China Business Primer: Ethics, Culture, and Relationships by Michael A. Santoro and and Robert Shanklin (Routledge Press, 2021); Wall Street Values: Business Ethics and the Global Financial Crisis by Michael A. Santoro and Ronald J. Strauss (Cambridge University Press, 2013); China 2020: How Western Business Can–and Should–Influence Social and Political Change in the Coming Decade (Cornell University Press, 2009); Ethics and the Pharmaceutical Industry, Michael A.
