I’ve spent most of my career working to support the Defence Geospatial community starting as a service desk operator. I spent several years supporting 400+ workstations and a complex back-end geospatial exploitation server environment, eventually moving into a team lead position I found passion in leadership. Since moving into a program management role, I’ve seen my team expand from 8 staff to over 40 supporting geospatial capability development and long-term sustainment. My passion for leadership has grown from strength to strength over the last 5 years, allowing me to discover along the way that I really enjoy motivating people and getting the best out of them. I follow the simple leadership ethos that if you take care of your staff, the rest will fall into place. My efforts are focused around developing, motivating and support my teams as much as possible to get the best out of them and help them grow individually to be the best they can be.My day-to-day role is similar to an account management role, where I’m responsible for the complete management and oversight of several projects, growth of those projects and solid long-term customer relationships. Whilst I mainly focus on the geospatial aspect of Defence, I provide assistance and ongoing management support to several other programs within our portfolio. I rely heavily on my emotional intelligence and abilities to understand people in order to achieve challenging goals.I’m currently completing a Bachelor of Business (Management) to help consolidate the knowledge I’ve learnt on the job and to help me identify focus areas for future growth. Between those challenges, I am keen traveller and love watching live music and sports.
