Volunteer member of the Actuaries Institute Mortality Working Group. Responsible for maintaining and running the R statistical model which predicts baseline mortality using linear regression.

Consultant at Azuria Partners, a boutique actuarial firm serving the life insurance & financial services industry. At Azuria I have worked on a variety of projects including AASB17 implementation, capital modelling and backfill at the senior actuary level in valuation teams. I have also assisted in pricing for a life insurance startup and developed financial modelling of a large reinsurance transaction. As a senior member of the team at Azuria I have had input into their business development and strategic initiatives.

After completing extensive training in options trading and theory I acted as an options market maker in the Hong Kong and US Equities markets. This involved making trades and changing the parameters of the trading system in real time, adjusting to market conditions.

Senior actuary within the life insurance valuation team. I was responsible for the production and accuracy of valuation results used in financial reporting and management. I oversaw development, testing and documentation of the valuation models used. Led a team of junior actuaries in carrying out the above and reviewed their work for accuracy and consistency. Presented and explained the results to the appointed actuary and CFO in regular meetings. Liaised with and addressed questions from external auditors.

Worked within the investigations and insights team and produced experience investigations reports, improved the data quality and processes and documented these. Worked with the valuation team in implementing the outcomes of the above into their valuations.

Worked within the Life Insurance and Financial Services team of KPMG Actuaries. I led audits of several major life insurers and reinsurers across A&NZ. I also led the modelling of a major Australian reinsurance transaction and assisted in development of a stochastic ALM and options valuation model for a large life insurance portfolio. At KPMG I was responsible for leading junior staff, managing them and reviewing their work. I also assisted partners with proposals and sales pitches.

Actuarial consultant in the life insurance team. As an analyst I performed a wide variety of technical work utilizing Excel, VBA and actuarial software such as MoSes and Prophet. As a consultant I managed and directed junior staff in carrying out project work, wrote and delivered reports and liaised with senior clients.Range of work included due diligence for several major M&As, implementation and review of capital and target surplus models, embedded value reviews, resource assistance in pricing and transactions for several reinsurers, model development and testing and ALM and stochastic options cost modelling.
