I am currently the Head of Commercial Affairs for the European Club Association. This involves advising on major projects such as the commercial strategy of the European Club Competitions, media rights/sponsorship/licensing strategies for Football Clubs, the creation of the joint venture between UEFA and Clubs in respect of the UEFA Champions League and the equivalent with FIFA for the Club World Cup.I also manage internal ECA topics such as governance and supplier contracting, providing a wide range of commercial legal support to almost 250 ECA member clubs, and advising on the institutional relationships ECA holds with its various stakeholders including UEFA, FIFA, FIFPro, and European Leagues.I was most recently an in-house Legal Counsel working within the Sponsorship & IP Legal Services team at UEFA, dealing with licensing contracts and brand services agreements, IP portfolio work, all types of IP infringement cases, online monitoring and protection, on-site rights protection programmes, bid evaluations, competition regulations and certain elements of commercial contract work including sponsorship and media rights.Previously I worked in-house with Lucozade Ribena Suntory, and in private practice with Baker Botts (UK) LLP. My experience had primarily been with commercial and IP-related matters concerning the pharmaceutical, sports and FMCG sectors. My specialities include brand management, trade marks, innovation management, and athlete and event sponsorship agreements.I have postgraduate qualifications in Intellectual Property law (from the University of Oxford), Sports Law (from De Montfort University) and Football Law (UEFA Football Law Programme/Kadir Has University, Istanbul).I was active with the RFU Independent Rugby Judiciary dealing with on and off-field disciplinary matters. I am also a member of the British Association of Sport and Law.
