For the past 14 years, I have utilized my organizational and leadership skills to strengthen the educational program and meet the needs of diverse learners in kindergarten through eighth grade. As Director of Finance and Operations at Grand Concourse Academy Charter School. I am responsible for implementing procedures aimed towards maintaining an efficient and productive work environment for staff and students. I am responsible for the strategic planning and utilization of staff resources, including scheduling and assigning duties that help fulfill the mission and vision of the school. I organize and supervise all after-school and summer programs that offer academic intervention and enrichment support services to address the educational, social and emotional needs of students. My responsibilities also include seeking, acquiring and managing federal, state and local funds, as well as budgeting and allocating resources to effectively support instruction. I am entrusted with ensuring compliance of all internal fiscal policies and accounting practices. Throughout my time at Grand Concourse Academy Charter School, I had the privilege of engaging with families throughout communities, and forming partnerships with other non-profit organizations with the goal of helping improve the lives of young students and providing pathways for their future successes. I am responsible for the coordination of pupil and family services, including the recruitment and enrollment of students, as well as the development and adherence of protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of staff and students. By forming strong internal data and communication systems, I ensure the organization adheres to all laws, rights and regulations to promote student achievement. My position affords me the opportunity to interface with fellow charter school advocates, including members of the district office, state authorizers and our board of trustees to put forth best practices to improve the quality of the service we provide to students. I pride myself on collaborating with instructional leaders both at my school and in my professional network to further my knowledge and professional growth.Every day, I witness, firsthand, the impact of education and it inspires me. It is the essential requirement for success. My dedication and commitment to education has guided me to pursue my goal towards principalship of a school. I intend to apply my leadership abilities to further the advancement of young individuals that will contribute to the betterment of society.
