Michael currently manages a portion of Credit Acceptance’s federal and state litigation and regulatory matters. He also advises the business on compliance issues and analyzes data to solve customer concerns before those customers feel the need to turn to regulators for assistance.An experienced trial and appellate litigator, Michael's private practice focused on complex commercial cases and appellate issues. Beginning as a trial lawyer more than a decade ago, Michael litigated business, tort, class action, intellectual property and antitrust cases in state and federal courts across the country. Building on that trial experience, Michael developed a robust appellate practice, handling numerous high-stakes cases in the Michigan court of appeals, Michigan Supreme Court and the Sixth Circuit. In that role, Michael was recognized as an outstanding writer and appellate advocate. As a result, he was engaged by various groups to author amicus briefs in the Michigan Court of Appeals and Michigan Supreme Court. Michael's ability to discern the most persuasive arguments on appeal, and communicate them effectively and in plain English, produced consistent success for his clients.Michael served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Lawrence P. Zatkoff, United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Michigan. In that position, Michael worked closely with the judge on hundreds of federal civil and criminal cases, drafted opinions and orders on hosts of federal issues, and assisted the judge while sitting by designation on United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Michael's diverse law-clerk experience has provided a unique insight into the judicial decision-making process.Outside of work, Michael serves as a executive member of the board of directors for the Old Newsboys' Goodfellow Fund of Detroit. In that position, Michael helps oversee and manage an organization dedicated for more than 100 years to providing more than 30,000 children in Detroit with gift boxes for Christmas.
