KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:• Serve as the CEO of the Association and preside over all Association activities • Ensure all activities are conducted within proper financial, legal and labour parameters. • Serve as Chief spokesperson of the Association• Coordinate and direct the negotiations of Collective Agreements for the benefit of the membership• Remain familiar with all grievance matters and provide guidance and advice. • Act as Chair of the Bargaining Committee and have overall responsibility for coordinating and directing negotiations of the collective Agreement for both sworn and civilian members. • Direct senior staff members in research and analysis activities. • Present bargaining demands to the membership and seek approval of same. • Communicate with the membership and present final proposals for ratification. • Preside at all meetings (except Board meetings). Make rulings on protocol and parliamentary procedures and interpret the Association’s constitution and By-laws. • Vote at meetings and in the instance of a tie vote cast the deciding vote. • Review and approve on behalf of the Board all documents pertaining to the business of the Association. • Approve the hiring, classifying or dismissal of members of the permanent staff. • Recommend to the Board the hiring and dismissal of senior staff.• Maintain contact with all media outlets. • Liaise with the Hamilton Police Service Board and the Chief of Police. Remain conversant with all activities of the Hamilton Police Service Board as well as municipal, provincial and federal governments on matters of interest to Association members or which affects Association agreements. • Maintain relationships with all other police Associations including attending and representing the Association at Police Association of Ontario and Canadian Police Association meetings. • Attend Special Investigation Unit call-outs, Internal Affairs and Public Complaint cases to provide support.

1980 – Obtained employment as Police Cadet. 1981 – Sworn in to be a Police Officer. Worked uniformed patrol at Mountain and Central Divisions. Addressing crime issues and traffic enforcement. 1986 – Assigned to Old Clothes/Undercover Officer. Directed into high crime areas in the downtown areas and assigned to solve whatever the community issue was causing concern. Drug enforcement and gang activity was a priority. 1988 – Assigned as Vice & Drug Investigator. Working full time on drug enforcement in as well as vice related offences including bookmaking, prostitution, immoral theatrical performances, monitoring and charging adult entertainment licenced premises. 1993 – Assigned to Child Abuse Branch. Investigated sexual offences against children. Worked closely with CAS(s). 1994 – Assigned to Division 20 as A/Patrol Supervisor. 1996 – Promoted to Sergeant. Supervised front line uniform patrol squad out of headquarters.1998 – Assigned to Sexual Assault unit. Investigated sexual offences against adults. 1999 – Assigned to Major Crimes/Homicide Unit. Investigated homicides within the City as well as any other serious offences deemed a Major Crime. 2004 – Promoted to Staff Sergeant while working in Major Crimes Unit. 2004 – Assigned to lead Vice & Drug Unit and Child Pornography Unit. As the Staff Sergeant oversaw drug and vice enforcement throughout Hamilton. Obtained funding for projects and was case manager on a number of large investigations. 2006 – Assigned to case mange the Firearms Investigative Task Force. 2006 – Assigned to lead Intelligence Unit (Staff of 37) I was in charge of all Intelligence projects through-out Hamilton. Including a static and mobile surveillance team. 2007-10 Director then in early 2010 became Vice Chair of Operating Body of Criminal Intelligence Service of Ontario.2010 - Elected President/CEO of Police Association. I took a leave of absence from the Service and successfully served 2 terms before retiring Dec 31st 2014.
