It quickly established itself as a leading originator of government guaranteed loans, which include 7(a), 504 and USDA.In 1983, Mike Thomas founded Georgia Certified Development Company, GCDC, a CDC licensed to originate 504 loans in Georgia. GCDC subsequently grew to be the largest CDC in the state of Georgia.Over the years, the focus shifted from doing business in the Southeast to loan origination in conjunction with banks that have a nationwide footprint.By 1997, the business evolved into a non-bank lending company, B&I Lending, which in 5 years, became the largest USDA B&I Lender in the country. B&I Lending had offices in Atlanta and Honolulu and made the USDA B&I loans business Nationwide.
