Design and development of software for medical devices.

Currently the software team lead for group of C++ developers working here in Australia and coordinating with remote team in California working on a medium throughput laboratory instrument. Before becoming the software team lead, Michael was designing and developing the business logic software for this instrument in C++.Worked on a point of care instrument designed to measure the coagulation of blood. Involvement was primarily the development of the algorithms for the detection of the coagulation.Other interesting development projects have included:- User Interface enhancements for existing clinical diagnostic products.- User Interface for R&D projects, requiring, graphing and results visualisation.- Prototype development for Consumer Products.

Worked as part of a small team to design, develop, integrate and test a message format convertor for the Ground Telecommunications Equipment Systems Program Office (GTESPO) for the RAAF.

Designed and developed simulation applications.The first simulation was an Over-The-Horizon-Radar simulator that utilised complex mathematics to simulate the ionosphere and other radar functionality. The second simulator recreated the Australian Air picture as seen by Air Services Australia.Designed and developed an Over-The-Horizon-Radar Computer Based Training application. This application was designed to allow trainee operators to experiment with waveform parameter tradeoffs and more easily appreciate and absorb complex OTHR tasking tradeoffs.

Responsible for writing and maintaining the Parameter Advice and Frequency Management System Requirements Specifications and supporting documentation.The complex nature of the Parameter Advice and Frequency Management System used for Ionospheric propagation for OTHR, Michael was responsible for the analysis, design and test support items that were used for requirement verification and sign-off of the tactical software.

Involved in the early development of Parameter Advice and Frequency Management System algorithms. This work was carried out in conjunction with the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) in Adelaide.
