The Northern Quarter Association was founded in 2003 by the creative, commercial and residential communities of that area of city centre Manchester to promote its physical, economic and cultural regeneration through a variety of creative means from temporary radio stations to public art schemes.

Michael Trainor was selected as one of the experts on twentieth century design on the 'The Twentieth Century Roadshow' which was broadcast in ten episodes in 2005. His demonstration of the combined coffee table/vacuum cleaner is widely recognised as TV gold.

Founded and ran a small shop (in Affleck's Palace) collecting, exhibiting and selling twentieth century design objects which grew to become Cafe Pop and eventually sold my entire collection to Hampshire Museum's service in 1999 making me one of very few people to have everything they own in a museum without actually being dead.
