Active in mortgage origination, market development, home buyer education, financial education, business development and training for real estate agents, as well as portfolio evaluation and account retention.Due to its strategic relationships and market success, NOIC has participated in product testing and development with Fannie Mae. I have had the privilege of helping NOIC and Fannie Mae vet its test products and technologies. As part of these efforts, I have forged valuable relationships with a number of non-profit agencies, local governments, and state governments in a number of specialized housing efforts. My roles have included:- Helping to administer a state-wide down payment assistance program which successfully helped dozens of persons with disabilities and persons with dependents with disabilities to achieve their dreams of home ownership. - Counseling and teaching home ownership and financial management classes in conjunction with local and state governments, housing authorities, and non-profit agencies.- Serving on development teams, committees, and non-profit agency boards active in the development of affordable housing, product design and program implementation.- Assisting a state housing development agency in its program design and implementation for the federal government’s use of Section 8 Housing Vouchers for home ownership rather than solely for rental housing.

NOIC is a unique and dynamic company rooted in innovation and leadership in the mortgage industry. NOIC’s leadership has been active in product design and development, crafting of regulation and standards, and advocacy for the benefits of home buyers and borrowers throughout Michigan and Ohio. I have served NOIC in a variety of roles as well as contributing to special projects involving origination, underwriting, compliance, and servicing.

Responsible for marketing to and educating community bank and credit union staff pertaining to conventional, FHA, VA, and Rural Development mortgages. Responsible for file review, file submission, and coordination with NOIC staff in the processing, underwriting, and closing of mortgage loans.

Responsible for designing and implementing systems which identified borrowers who were experiencing financial hardship, providing counseling about possible resources, gathering and evaluating pertinent financial data, offering possible solutions, enrolling borrowers to accept and moving forward with agreed upon courses of action to avoid loss of borrowers’ homes to foreclosure. Responsible for employee recruitment, employee training, processing, underwriting, and closing of foreclosure avoidance transactions. This was done in a rapidly changing landscape of regulatory requirements and programs as the mortgage industry and federal government were wrestling with the most difficult times of our recent mortgage crisis. As a servicer of conventional, FHA, and VA mortgages, NOIC and I were responsible to multiple investors, mortgage insurers, and governmental authorities.

Looking for a new challenge and reaching to scratch an entrepreneurial itch, I partnered with an experienced real estate agent and opened an independent real estate brokerage firm based in Monroe County, MI. We carefully identified and recruited licensed real estate agents who demonstrated a high level of integrity and professionalism. We offered traditional real estate brokerage services and quickly dwarfed our competitors in average agent productivity. I won our local board of Realtors® “Rookie of the Year” award. My duties included agent recruitment, process development, compliance, sales, and grew to include consulting in the mortgage industry as it wrestled with the challenges from the mortgage crisis.

I was hired by NOIC as a loan officer and asked to further develop its market presence in Monroe County, MI, and later to open and manage its first satellite office. My responsibilities included retail mortgage loan origination, employee recruitment, loan originator training & development, and overall market development in southeastern Michigan.

I managed the operations of a nine-employee manufacturer of custom office furniture, cabinetry, and millwork. My responsibilities included providing customer service from point of sale to delivery and installation, product design, materials procurement, production scheduling, inventory management, and quality control. This company’s products have been purchased and used by Proctor & Gamble, Kellogg Corporation, Northwest Airlines, Whirlpool Corporation, and many others.

I was hired directly out of college to help this fledgling non-profit agency with a full-time staff of two to design and implement housing and community economic development programs. My duties included identifying and securing project funding commitments, site identification & acquisition, contract & specification writing, management of contractors, home buyer education, administration of a mortgage loan pool, and the ultimate marketing and sale of redeveloped homes. In the four years I worked in this position, the organization acquired and renovated 17 homes and 13 apartment units. One of the projects I managed garnered special recognition from our state’s governor. The foundation built by these successes helped this agency to go on to successfully partner in the development of more than 100 housing units in our city.
