Summer 2013: created maps of tree gaps in the Great Smokey National Park by processing LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) data through the FUSION software. Final map products were created in ArcMap.Spring 2013: used raw LiDAR data to create canopy and surface raster layers using FUSION and ArcMap. The overall goal is to determine forest stand type by canopy height through remote sensing. Fall 2012: collected data for the Human Ecological Movement project based on the Olympic National Park in Washington. This data was used to create a map which detailed the residential parcels (i.e. single family, multi-family, etc.) surrounding the park. The map was one of three needed to aid research for the HEM project.
