I worked closely with both rider and mechanic to build a trusted relationship that meant the team were able to maximise success at each event. This included assisting the teams rider with advice on strategies used for practice sessions, being available to discuss line choice on trackwalk. While also being on hand trackside to capture objective information that would be bespoke to individual rider needs using observation, filming and timing to improve rider performance.
Team Coach
As a Rider and Coach for the Steve Peat Syndicate my time is divided between competing at National and International downhill competitions and implementing a development programme for the riders on the team who are competing at National and World Cup level. To achieve this I have produced a programme that involves overseeing and supporting riders with training, lifestyle and competition support to ensure the whole rider is developed so that they are best prepared as athletes to compete in their future racing careers.
Bmx Coach
Responsible for running weekly coaching sessions with riders aged 5-18 at the National BMX Centre. I worked in a team of coaches to coordinate a successful Youth Club programme. During these sessions riders from various backgrounds and abilities are coached in the techniques required to be successful BMX riders while also providing a fun and safe environment for all the riders to participate in.
Sports Co-Ordinator
Responsible for providing sports sessions, in particular Mountain Bike and BMX sessions to Key Stage 3 pupils. In addition I supported the delivery of two sports qualifications to the Key Stage 4 pupils. The school is a Pupil Referral Unit that caters for children with a range of social, emotional and behavioural needs which provided a challenging environment to work within and required excellent interpersonal skills, communication and creative thinking to succeed.
