I was the sole specialised "bridge worker" working between West Berks young persons drug & alcohol service "The Edge", and WB's Adult drug & alcohol treatment service. I worked with 16-17 year old in the youth service, and 18-25 in the adult service.- I managed an average caseload of 65 clients, providing clients with psycho-social support, and evidence-based treatment, while signposting to other external and internal services (Opiate Substitution treatment, needle exchange, etc.) where appropriate.- I had knowledge of, and liaised with local services: child and adult social services, mental health, youth services, etc. for the best outcome for my clients. I had to understand how their referral process works, and how their support can work in tandem with my own. This entailed much multi-agency professional communication.- I provided outreach in local schools, teaching young people about alcohol & other drugs harms. I did so from a pragmatic, harm reduction perspective. Drug use will never be "Safe", but it can certainly be "safer" if correct knowledge is used during consumption.

I advised, advocated and supported service users to reduce/cease problematic drug use by:-Championing harm reduction practices, and providing education to mitigate risk associated with drug consumption.-By working directly with clients and potential clients to deliver motivational interview interventions, and to support clients to engage with our service, alongside other health and social care services in multi-agency working.- I also worked on the Thames Valley Diversion scheme pilot. This scheme diverted predominately young drug users away from the criminal justice system, and into treatment where appropriate. I supported SEN Adults and late teens with their academic development, alongside growing and strengthening their ability to live and work as adults. The purpose of this role was to assist and manage the various different and complex needs of our students. We facilitated their development, grow their independent living skills, and help them become even more valued members of society. It was a highly rewarding role.With my previous sports coaching experience, I also led PE sessions for my class. I was responsible for, and led a variety of activities for children between the ages of 4-14, in a day camp setting. I was also the paediatric first aider at camp, and had to deal with some rather nasty injuries! I was cool and composed when providing first aid for a broken wrist, and a amputated little finger.This role also involved child safeguarding responsibilities, dynamic risk assessing, and injury record keeping.

I assisted in queries, facilitated telephone interviews, and created detailed reports for clients who used our services.This role enhanced my knowledge of the corporate world, commercial awareness, and built on previous customer service and administrative skills.I also gained an understanding of apprenticeships, and graduate employment programs as well as interview and assessment centre techniques.

I made food and hot drinks for the centre's café. The Job entailed waiting, cleaning, and customer service responsibilities in a fantastic natural setting.

I mentored and lived with boys aged 11/12, as a counsellor for 7 weeks. I also planned, and coached Ultimate Frisbee sessions as an activity specialist, for both boys and girls of all ages.
