Michael Walch is managing European and international research programmes at the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). As Eureka NPC, he is coordinating the lifecycle of international R&D projects. In additional roles, he works as consultant for R&D projects and technical reviewer with a long history in ICT. His lasting interest in responsible digitalization has been focussed on the fields of AI, modeling, and robotic systems.In basic and applied research, he has contributed on fusing knowledge- & data-driven AI, building “smart“ models at different levels of abstraction, and the design & execution of autonomous systems. Michael Walch previously also worked in the private sector and with non-profit organizations on experimental development of innovative processes, products, and services focussing on organizations' strategic objectives.Michael Walch holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Vienna, for which he has received the State Award for Best Research and the Austria Research Award for an innovative subject and high practical relevance. He was actively engaged in Horizon, CREST, and other research projects. Currently, he lives is in Vienna.
